PURPOSE                                                                                                     

”TEOTIHUACAN, CREATION OF THE BEGINNING” is the performance of two ancient Mexican legends through the fusion of contemporary dance and the ancient ritual Mexican dances. The first legend narrates the creation of Ometeotl, the God who created himself, and dressed himself with the four basic elements from nature -water, fire, air and earth-, and the second legend narrates the creation of the sun and  the moon through the sacrifice of the Gods in Teotihuacan. The performance lasts for 45 minutes.

MOTIVATION                                                                                                

The aesthetic expression of the indigenous peoples is impregnated with dreams and realities, which is why it is often difficult to draw a clear line between the two. In their artistic expression the cosmogony is highlighted through different forms of aesthetic expression in which abound colours, images, sounds, lights and shadows that teach us to observe their spiritual richness and their vision of the world transformed into art, politics and cultural demonstration.

On the other side the contemporary dance generates a language open to new ways of expression that allows to fuse with different artistic disciplines. In this way the show uses as a fundation the legend of the creation of everything in Teotihuacan narrated with movement and music.

GENERAL OBJETIVE                                                                                        

1.- Rescue the positions from the historic documents like the Codex and prehispanic sculptures from Mexico in order to define sequence of movements and to build a skript of actions that shape the show.

OBJETIVOS PARTICULARES                                                                                

1.- Fuse the language of expression of the Mexican ritual dance with the contemporary dance and music.

2.-Extend the word and this word transformed into dance and Make these two elements of the indigenous cosmogony known to an audience in Mexico and other countries through this project ”TEOTIHUACAN, CREATION OF THE BEGINNING”

STAGE REQUERIMENTS

Minimum stage size 6 x 4 m with P.A.

Normal theater lighting and 3 lights, blue, red and green on the front of the stage

2 CD-players

3 condenser microphones example SM57 with T base.
